Humm...could it be that your HD is going south and UDMA is the only
thing making it reliable on 2.1.102? (since DMA is disabled under
2.1.115 by default).

Can you try enabling DMA and see if your 2.1.115 is happier?
althought looking at mine, DMA is disabled and it's fine. (Of course I
don't have a stock ibm disk in mine.)
