Odd system slowdown...

An odd side-effect I am having with 2.1.111 pre-1 plus devfs-v45 (can't imagine
it's devfs's fault though) is that my system is getting considerably slower, as
if some program is taking up a lot of CPU time.
I am running Lynx 2.8.1dev-17, and MikMod, which take up some time, but I was
running this exact same combination of programs much earlier and didn't have
nearly as much slowdown trouble as I am right now...
The system's been up 1 hour, 7 minutes. I'm noticing that Lynx is taking a lot
of time to update the screen or process the next key I hit.
