>From time to time I've emailed an officially listed maintainer and it
bounced. Also from time to time I reply to messages on the kernel
list and it bounces off the referenced message's from: address.

Perhaps the thing to do is the "is this address correct?" message (for
MAINTAINERS) before 2.4.0, and for those that don't respond, make a note
in the status for that maintainer entry.
