Dear listmembers,
the following description refers to severe difficulties I notice with kernel
version 2.2.X I do not know whom to report to.

[1.] One line summary of the problem:
cdrom-operation is no more functional (no cdwriter operation, reported filesize
on cdrom is wrong)
[2.] Full description of the problem/report:
see attachment
[3.] Keywords (i.e., modules, networking, kernel):
cdrom - driver malfunction
[4.] Kernel version (from /proc/version):
2.2.X (any 2.2-kernel, I tested 2.2.0, 2.2.1, 2.2.2acX)
[5.] Output of Oops.. message (if applicable) with symbolic information
resolved (see Documentation/oops-tracing.txt)
none
[6.] A small shell script or example program which triggers the
problem (if possible)
see attachment, no trigger, simply mount cdrom.
[7.] Environment
see attachment
[7.1.] Software (add the output of the ver_linux script here)
see attachment

Any input would be greatly appreciated. If there is anything additional that I
should support / test / whatever, let me know. My system is 100% reliable on
2.0.36, no failures, 24h uptime daily, up-time of several weeks without any
difficulty.

Many thanks in advance,
yours sincerely

The next data stem from kernel rev. 2.2.2ac7, however, I can repeat this
with any kernel 2.2 I have seen so far. Neither cdrom nor cdwriter work any
more.

%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%
%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%

This is the result of a mount of the cdrom (iso9660-Filesystem):

total 27636
>>>> dr-xr-xr-x 1 root root 12288 Jan 1 1970 ./
>>>> drwxr-xr-x 3 root root 0 Mdr 6 20:45 ../

>>>> -r-xr-xr-x 1 root root 10199040 Feb 9 12:45 XF3331.TAR*

The same cdrom as above gives me totally different filesizes.
