Sadly, the sound code is still mis-detecting my sound card (see below).

But first the new oopses, I had two, the first when trying to recompile
the sound modules with some minor changes (see below), and then another
when I was using dselect to install the binutils headers so I could
compile the now ksymoops..

At that point I dropped back to 2.2.0p6ac4..

The oopses are attached..

As far as the sound problem...
Up until the new ESS mixer stuff was added things had been working
perfectly well, however, as of 2.2.0p5, the main 'Volume' control
stopped working..

After some poking I found that the code seems to be misdetecting my
sound card as a newer model, so I finally pulled out the card to see
what it has for a chipset so I knew what it should be found as..

There are two ESS AudioDrive chips on the card, the markings on both
are...

ESS (R)
AudioDrive
ES968F B525
U62963
(P)4,214,125 (C)

ESS (R)
AudioDrive
ES1688F D505
VB45009A
(P)4,214,125 (C)

The card is being misdetected as a ESS ES1788 AudioDrive (rev 11) (3.1),
full output of cat /proc/sound is attached...
(Note that the /proc/sound attached is from 2.2.0p7ac4, as I forgot to
make a copy of the one from ac5 before rebooting, if you need the one
from ac5 just ask and I'll grab it..)

If you need any more information please let me know, hopefully this won't
be too hard to fix..
