IMM driver trouble on recent Linux versions

I have some problem with the new IMM code. In 2.1.123 everything is fine:

[...]
parport0: PC-style at 0x378 [SPP]
[...]
imm: Version 2.00
imm: Found device at ID 6, Attempting to use EPP 32 bit
imm: Found device at ID 6, Attempting to use SPP
imm: Communication established with ID 6 using SPP
scsi0 : Iomega ZIP Plus drive
scsi : 1 host.
Vendor: IOMEGA Model: ZIP 100 PLUS Rev: J.66
Type: Direct-Access ANSI SCSI revision: 02

However, in 2.2.0-pre4 the module cannot be loaded:

[...]
parport0: PC-style at 0x378 [SPP]
[...]
imm: Version 2.03 (for Linux 2.0.0)
imm: Found device at ID 6, Attempting to use EPP 32 bit
imm: No devices found, aborting driver load.
scsi : 0 hosts.

It appears that the new driver doesn't probe for SPP mode (the machine
is an old i80486)

More information available on demand.
