I had a similar problem with 2.0.33 when it was current, and tried all
sorts of tricks. It turned out to be a fault in the keyboard itself,
since the act of swapping it for a supposedly identical (same make and
model) keyboard was enough to fix the problem...

I can't verify that this is your problem of course, but if you have
access to any other keyboards that can be used with that system, it
might pay to temporarily swap them over...
