You hope wrong. I am using Red Hat 5.x (x=1).
And strings /bin/ping says:

$Id: ping.c,v 1.22 1997/06/08 19:39:47 dholland Exp $
netkit-base-0.10

Ok, I need to upgrade it - Alan Cox was right (as usual).
