UDI, SCO, Intel, MS and Linux

My 0.02 cents:

I believe the days of Linux being marginalized are over. These
folks need us more than we need them. So arguements that "i'd rather have
a driver than have none at all" are meaningless.
We have enough mass to be taken seriously. With everyone else
jumping on the Linux bandwagon one of the big loosers are
SCO and MS and a bunch of other *nix vendors.
[take a simple example of large database servers]

Lets not be fooled by silly consortiums like UDI.
If they were serious maybe they should have invited someone from
Linux international. SCO being owned 10% by MS is in my opinion a big
concern. The PC-DOS fiasco would be happening again with binary
drivers, unless:

- the consortium allows for the source code to be
inspected and agreed to by members of the Linux community prior to
release (perhaps appointed by Linux International) even if it is under
non-disclosure (paid labor).

-Porting to other arch. (which Linux supports) should be
made available (so we are not stuck with Intel).

If they want our support, i suggest they should be forced to go by our
terms.

cheers
