MDA framebuffer device

I have a Cirrus Logic 5446 PCI card, as well as an old mono card.
I see that the new kernel supports a multiheaded configuration
for this combination of hardware (correct me if I'm wrong).

I've looked in linux/Documentation, HOWTO's, and even the
relevant source code files, and I don't see at all how to
actually USE this combination of video hardware.

So my questions are:

1) What can this dual headed setup be used for?

2) How is it used? What software is needed?

What I'd like to do is be able to have certain VC's on my VGA
monitor, and certain other VC's on my mono monitor. Say,
tty[1-8] on VGA and tty[12-15] on mono.

I'd also like to be able to do dual monitor debugging with this
type of setup.

Is this possible? What things do I need to do to make it happen?

What do I put in /etc/inittab? What other config files need to
be played with?
