I suspect not, although glibc 2.0.95 contains the Unix98 PTY API, so
if you have a telnetd compilable for Unix98 it should work.

Note that 2.1.115 contains several bugs in its support for > 256 PTYs;
I have send a patch to Linus that will hopefully fix it already.
