Main possible problem: I think IBM still uses their proprietary MicroChannel
bus on their think pads. If this is the case on your new system, the
initial installation will be your first problem. I also hope you got the
installation media for all of your software, especially Win98. If you got
the OEM Win98 cdrom, then you may be in luck, you can use this bootable CD
to reinstall Win98. (Note: FDISK can be accessed from the \Win98 directory
on your Win98 cd) That recovery CD may not be worth anything, if I remember
correctly it basically wipes out your hard drive and dumps the original
installation back onto it. You'll also need a kernel which supports your
bus to install your Linux system (Note if MCA: either 2.0.35 (patched for
MCA) or a 2.1 kernel.)) You might also consider using the UMSDOS filesystem
which allows you to install linux on your FAT filesystem. (I heard that
UMSDOS now supports FAT32 but I am not sure)
