Good Idea. :-)

So I integrated Philip's code with the new time.c code for 2.0.x. Recompiled the
kernel and am running it right now. So far so good, whether I turn on the Cyrix
suspend-on-halt feature or not. :-)

And tested it using Philip's pent_time.c test code.

If I test it with suspend-on-halt ON, I get a quotient value of zero, hence a
division by zero and of course the seg fault and core dump. This was expected,
since it's exactly what the "old" time.c code did. :-)

If I test with suspend-on-halt OFF, I get the attached sample output. (all
tests made from within an xterm, on a relatively idle box).

I am also attaching the "new" time.c. It's a drop-in replacement for the
/arch/i386/kernel/time.c in 2.0.32, 2.0.33 and 2.0.34.

Finally, I am attaching my /proc/cpuinfo; needs a small patch to setup.c...
once you install the new time.c code, obviously ;-)
