cdu31a cdrom-driver

hasn't been working properly on alpha for a loooong time.
Works fine on 2.0.34, but does _not_ work on 2.1.108. Doesn't work on
2.1.99 either, I actually can't even remember when there was any changes
to this driver. It just gives me this:

I actually don't have the inspiration to figure this out myself, so I post
