Workman causes load ave of 1 with sb and 2.1.103

My cd player is played all day but since recently 2.1.101/2 my machine
after a while hits a la of 1 and stays there ive not been able to
see any procs thrashing or doing wiered things workman doesnt even show
up...
if got sb16 compiled into the kernel with ide and cdrom as modules
nothing is obvious ... killing workman and restarting it works
again any one else seen this ???
