System hangs 2.1.95/96 and Netscape

With those 2 kernels and Netscape 4.04/4.05 up, I have been getting a complete
lock up of my system, usually when Netscape has been idle for some considerable
amount of time.
I at first suspected a hardware cause as my other machine was quite happy 24/7,
the one day I fired up Netscape on it and left it idle for quite a while after
some downloads, when I came back, the hard disk was thrashing around, same as it
does on the other machine before it finally goes. If you catch it on time, you
can stop it by getting out of X, too late and it's a hardware reset.
Since then I have always exited Netscape when not using it and have avoided the
lockouts/disk thrashing.
Machines both PR200+, 64Meg and 48 Meg, EIDE/SCSI(aic7xxx) and EIDE only,
Stealth 3D-3000 4 Meg and CL-9440.
Apps.... hamradio TCP/IP, NFS, ISDN, IP-Masquerading, XFree-3.3.2, kde and much
else.
Some time I'll brave up and try it under 2.1.97 and see what happens.
Regards
