The problem I am looking at only affects EXT2.
When the fs is created debugfs tells me
1 group (1 descriptors block)
Group 0: block bitmap at 3, inode bitmap at 4, inode table at 5
976 free blocks, 346 free inodes, 2 used directories
But if I mount and unmount the fs, then eject and reinsert the floppy, I
get

The group descriptor seems to be ok in memory, but corrupted on the disk
by the mount/remount.
Ejecting/reinserting the disk triggers a reread from the disk and the
error.
