I have been testing 2.1.81-pre-1 on my Alpha by attempting a 'make
bootstrap' of egcs-1.0.1. It's been dying periodically with "..no such
file or directory.." errors. Invariably, the file purported to be missing
is actually there and the build can be restarted successfully. Naturally,
there is no consistency as to which file vanishes <g>.
The server in this case is a 6x86 box running 2.1.80-pre4.
Also, when doing a recursive copy of the kernel source tree onto the Alpha
(with the Alpha doing the work), it randomly fails to copy the contents of
entire directories! This ties in with a symptom where Midnight Commander
will sometimes show me an empty NFS server directory where I know files
exist. In this last case, forcing a re-stat with Ctrl-R brings things to
life.
No log entries or odd messages on either end, FWIW.
