I wouldn't call it that... it's probably because he is running 2.0.30
on the machine, and it's hanging onto buffer space and not releasing
it when a program actually needs it.
I would suggest that they try linux-2.0.0pre10
(from ftp.kernel.org:/pub/linux/kernel/testing/) or go back to 2.0.29
