versioning filesystems and linux

Just a wee bit of curiousity - Do any Linux-supported filesystems support
versioning?
(aka - if a newer version exists it's a seperate file or sub-block or
something)

ITS had this (Incompatible Timesharing System), as does VMS (afaik)... As
do many (but hardly all) database systems.

I suspect this is largely a userspace issue.... 'xcept that access to
filesystem would need to pass through userspace [can this be done?]
