Some days ago, I've had such a fubar'ed filesystem on 2.0.30: while
extracting a compressed afio archive on a 2GB Western Digital (and
ONLY on that HD, which was perfectly working otherwise), many
directories didn't have "." and "..", with the mentioned effects.
