So much for this theory. Since I sent this message, my machine has
experienced two solid lockups with no kernel traces. I guess I could
try disabling the CONFIG_APM_* options and seeing if things get better,
but I've seen it experience lockups both during extremely light and
somewhat heavy use, so I don't think this will necessarily help.
