2.1.43 no keyboard input

I installed 2.1.43 on my notebook TI EXTENSA 650 CD. The keyboard
seems to be switched off - no capslock/numlock lights - nothing. I
even tried an external keyboard, same result. output to /dev/tty1 is
O.K., and the machine runs smooth by the looks of it. I have no
posibility to log in remotely to test more. 2.1.42 runs O.K.
