You need a newer version of loadlin, at least 1.6a I think (don't have the
info here). Check ftp://elserv.ffm.fgan.de/pub/linux/loadlin-1.6/ for it.
Documentation/initrd.txt should mention this requirement; I offered some
updates to it a few months ago which were okayed by Werner Almesberger but
they've not yet found their way into the official distribution of Linux.
