When a TCP connection gets cut off (modem hangs up) my linux box doesnt
detects it. First i thought that it's only the shell that doesnt detects the
disconnection , but then i noticed 2 ftpd processes runing for a few days
already. netstat shows that the connection is still established.

These connections should stick around for some period of time, how do
you think applications such as mobile IP and packet radio cope?
