Linux Freeze / Thaw - 2.0.29

Hi again,

My always_causing_me_problems fireWall box has gone into a weird mode
after running 2.0.29 for 6 days.

Right at the console, if you start to type, you can see it freezing (no
echo) and after a couple of seconds, catching up and going on. This
freeze is also apparent on the network traffic going through the box.
There has been no odd messages (dmesg) and I've stopped everthing running
on it to see if it would correct itself, but no success. Some stats:

I shall reboot in the AM, but wanted to pass along what seems to be a
weird occurance.
