Thanks Alan. The problem seems to be that I HAD to remake all the file-
systems that used this controller. This controller has a different
physical-to-logical translation of "sectors" than the Adaptec. Once
somebody wrote past some logical offset, the Linux file-system got
trashed. Once some reads of the trashed file-system occured, something
very, very BAD happened in the kernel. Subsequent writes went to other
SCSI devices. I can see part of a page partition written to my last
SCSI drive which was idle...

I have 2 2GB drives, plus tape, CDROM plus an "old" 1 GB drive. Basically
everything except the CDROM (perhaps even that) got written to...
