I do not think so. We "own" 204.178.40.0 to 204.178.47.255. This requires
a netmask of 255.255.248.0 .

However, I route to the 204.178.47.0 subnet. This requires a netmask of
255.255.255.0. I add and delete individual addresses from the arp
cache of the server connected to my Internet switch, as they appear in
my remote dialup server's arp cache.

I don't want other traffic. In fact, Netbouis (or whatever), that
is NETBIOS encapsulated in BROADCAST packets (gawd), ends up being
put at 204.178.47.255, even from machines on the 204.178.40.0 network. It
is important to keep this junk isolated since MicroJunk won't allow their
broadcast (hense NetGarbage(bouis)) to be put at 204.178.40.255 were it
should be. Actually, they should never have been allowed to send DATA as
broadcast packets, since every machine on the local network has to get
interrupted to receive these packets, suck them out of the controllers
and dump them on the floor.

If the required parameters for a single address added to the arp cache
has now been changed to a netmask of 255.255.255.255, I haven't a clue
what that netmask is supposed to do. If this is now correct, it's
an easy fix.

Do you think it'll work??

Cheers,
Dick Johnson
