Well, you might be right, but I consider it suspicious
that it statred to hang right after network trafic
increased. In fact it crashed about twice daily until
I removed all firewalling and ip-aliasing stuff from
kernel. After that it hanged (in most of cases)
when there were big samba transfers going. Now I
upgraded card to AMD 79C970A PCnet/PCI II based
clone, and didn't get it down even when I tried.
If that server is up still in next year, I'll believe
that problem was that NE2000 clone.

What should I watch ? I have never occured any
IDE-controlle related problems, but poor performance.
Now I use "hdparm -X11 -m8 -c3 /dev/hda" and even
performance is decent (still not great, but...).
