Why does 1.2.13 see and mount both of my cdroms just fine (ide/atapi) but none of the newer kernels will mount both of them.

I'm allways told that /dev/hdd is an ide tape drive by the syslog from boot up but it is a cdrom drive. This is causing me to be unable to mount it.

Please help me resolve this weird problem.
