I have a DTC2278 as well... I've been following the development
kernels since .40 or so, and have run into a few problems, so I've had
a chance to talk with Mark "The IDE Guy" Lord on this... Yes, the
serialized means that you can only access one drive at a time. And
no, there is no way to parallelize the DTC, as the controller is
buggy, and will do nasty, evil things and scribble on data and crash
your system and such. As far as the -p, I've been using -p with my
setup (Connor CFS850a as hda, Mitsumi 4x CD-ROM as hdb) for a while
now with no problems - Make sure that your drives support higher PIO
modes before trying it.
