At the moment a few people are working on a very nice penguin that does
scale, does seem to shrink down and doesnt seem to look too much like other
people's logos. At the end of the day its up to Linus but I think we may
be getting somewhere

http://www.isc.tamu.edu/~lewing/linux/

I've been deliberately trying _not_ to contribute to this somewhat
gratutious thread about Linux logos, although I have looked at some of
the submissions. Most of them have been pretty bad ideas as logos ---
either too complicated, or not easily scaleable, would look terrible in
black/white, etc, etc.

The set of penguins found in the above URL are the first that are
half-way decent as logos. If people haven't tried looking at these yet,
it's definitely worth their time to take a look.

IMO, the logo should be something simple, like the penguin sitting down.
Later on, people who want to do hack T-shirts that have the penguin
doing things (for example, the angry-looking penguin w/ boxing gloves),
can do so. But the basic logo should just be something simple.
