ELF and module installation (fwd)

To follow up a little on my own post, it occurred to me that 1.2.13 was
a.out compiled before I converted to ELF, so I applied the a.out changes
to the 1.3.24 Makefile and recompiled and installed the whole thing as
a.out. It now boots and the modules load without problem and appears to
be running fine.

Something in insmod may not be properly recognizing the ELF format,
despite what the ELF-HOWTO indicates.
