1.3.20 make doesn't create include/modules/ksyms.ver

Hi all,

I was wondering what might be wrong with my setup, since I can't get
1.3.20 to compile (without helping it a bit by hand) with
CONFIG_MODVERSIONS on. The reason/symptom is that make (dep) doesn't
create /include/linux/modules/ksyms.ver target (there might be some
other .ver files to be made ?) automagically. This should be done by
rules in versions.mk included by linux/kernel/Makefile.

I really haven't got the time to figure out if dependacies for that
target are set up correctly or whatever my make (3.73) is too old.
I got around this problem by doing gcc (cflags etc) |genksyms... and
symbolic link by hand. However, I don't want to do it again every time I
upgrade my kernel... :(

Anyone else been experiencing this same problem and if yes then what do
you have in common with me?
