A mentally less challenging perhaps cleaner form is:

		if (kptr_restrict == 0)
			break;
		if (kptr_restrict == 1 &&
		    has_capability_noaudit(current, CAP_SYSLOG))
			break;
		ptr = NULL;
		break;
