As a hack, can you change:

        if ((rq->flags & REQ_BLOCK_PC) && !rq->errors)
                rq->errors = sense_key;

in drivers/ide/ide-cd.c:cdrom_decode_status() to

        if ((rq->flags & REQ_BLOCK_PC) && !rq->errors)
                rq->errors = 2;
