I found a workaround for the CD Burning thing:

I put an additional old AIC 2940 into the box, where I attached the all the
things that used to be on channel B. No I can copy CDs, but nevertheless I
get still timeouts on my 3950U2. Happily, that the 2940 isn't impressed by
that (good ol' boy...) (As long I do not try to burn from the Harddisk)

But I do not think that everybody has got a spare 2940...
