By those standards, so has Apache. How exactly is /etc/rc.d/init.d/vmware
different from /usr/sbin/apachectl?
It's not exactly difficult to stick "/etc/rc.d/init.d/vmware start" in your
rc.local. Even FreeBSD does this for (a number of) extra packages these
days...
