Re: 2.2.16 + Perc module

Nick and Scott,

There are a number of Dell RAID adapters, and they use two different
drivers.

These 4 use the "percraid" driver, which is available as a binary-only
module for Red Hat-released kernels. Source code is not available for this
driver today. Nick, you have one of these controllers.
http://support.dell.com/us/en/filelib/download/index.asp?fileid=3178
PERC2 = quad-channel Ultra2 RAID controller
PERC2/Si = on-board single-channel Ultra2 RAID controller on the PowerEdge
2400
PERC3/Si = on-board single-channel Ultra160 RAID controller on the PowerEdge
2450
PERC3/Di = on-board dual-channel Ultra160 RAID controller on the PowerEdge
4400

These three use the "megaraid" driver, which is present in the stock kernel,
for which source code is available there today.
PERC = dual-channel Ultra RAID controller
PERC2/SC = single-channel Ultra2 RAID controller
PERC2/DC = dual-channel Ultra2 RAID controller

That sounds like Dell's driver version. You're telling me you don't
know what PERC version you have in your Dell server?

As I understand it the perc3s aren't AMI anymore which means it might be
difficult to get source code for the drivers. Fortunately you can get
most of Dell's servers with perc2s instead, which seem to work fine for
the one 2450/linux we have already.
