i'm trying to connect to my ISP through the Nokia 7110 IrDA system.
My laptop is an Acer TravelMate 313T. unfortunately I've no info about the
internal Irda chipset.

When i try to bring up the connection with ifup ppp0 (i did a ppp dial out
with /dev/irnine as device) sometimes the wait for OK from modem
hangs. Pressing ^C or similar leads to a kernel oop.
Unfortunately I have no idea about Irda, so i'm just doing some experiment
and so what i'm doing is like shoot in a dark room.

Here are some useful (I hope) data.

Please, if you need some other info, mail me in CC. I tried to follow
kernel-devel for a while, but i was forced to unsubscribe due to high load
on the list.

many thanks and good work. You're always the best :)
