PIIX4 stops my DMA...

I compiled the ac6 release of 2.4.0test1. Now i seem to have lost support
for DMA on my system.
I just get these messages during boot :

ide: Assuming 33MHz system bus speed for PIO modes; override with idebus=xx
PIIX4: IDE controller on PCI bus 00 dev 39
PIIX4: chipset revision 1
PIIX4: not 100% native mode: will probe irqs later
PIIX4: dma_base is invalid (0xf000)
ide0: PIIX4 Bus-Master DMA disabled (BIOS)
PIIX4: dma_base is invalid (0xf000)
ide1: PIIX4 Bus-Master DMA disabled (BIOS)
HPT366: onboard version of chipset, pin1=1 pin2=2
HPT366: IDE controller on PCI bus 00 dev 98
HPT366: chipset revision 1
HPT366: not 100% native mode: will probe irqs later
HPT366: dma_base is invalid (0xd800)
ide2: HPT366 Bus-Master DMA disabled (BIOS)
HPT366: IDE controller on PCI bus 00 dev 99
HPT366: chipset revision 1
HPT366: not 100% native mode: will probe irqs later
HPT366: dma_base is invalid (0xe400)
ide3: HPT366 Bus-Master DMA disabled (BIOS)

It is strange as my DMA has worked without any problems before. I tried to
reenable DMA with the
help of hdparm. Then i got this error :

/dev/hda:
 setting using_dma to 1 (on)
 HDIO_SET_DMA failed: Operation not permitted
 using_dma = 0 (off)

What is wrong ?? Without DMA the system is very sluggish...
