I tried that. It's *not* an archive -- it's an actual firmware
downloader (so far as I can tell). It wants a plextor-specific DLL
which it presumably would use to download the firmware direct to the
drive. I could not find any way to extract just the raw binary.
On the other hand, maybe I can play games with objdump or friends...

Maybe it's time for a polite letter-writing campaign. I exhausted
most of my energy for dealing with them a few months back, maybe I'm
ready to try again.
