Alan et al.,

i820:~ # uptime
 11:06pm up 2:02, 4 users, load average: 40.20, 40.08, 40.02

I have this loaded with 20 each:
        cat /dev/hda > /dev/null
        cat /dev/hdc > /dev/null

cat /proc/interrupts
           CPU0
  0: 765648 XT-PIC timer
  1: 745 XT-PIC keyboard
  2: 0 XT-PIC cascade
  8: 1 XT-PIC rtc
 11: 6630 XT-PIC eth0
 12: 1509 XT-PIC PS/2 Mouse
 13: 1 XT-PIC fpu
 14: 6040292 XT-PIC ide0
 15: 17752095 XT-PIC ide1

Two HOURS I have ripped almost 24 million interrupts services
It does not crash in UP.....

I have chased the bug to this point......

Onboard HOST-ADAPTERS are fine UP/SMP......
Offboard or ADD-ON cards are the issue ONLY........

This grinds back to PCI & SMP changes.

I need to kick the snot out of UP with add-on cards.
If they pass a test with this high of load......the it falls to SMP.

I will hack BIOS images to figure out which fails on SMP PPro's by
SuperMicro and all others with broken MP Tables having the timer only
attached to the first CPU.
