[1.] One line summary of the problem:
cdparanoia can not access ide-scsi cdrom
[2.] Full description of the problem/report:
Grabbing an audio file from an ATAPI CDROM attached through the scsi
emulation of the kernel fails, because cdparanoia complains that the device
is not a cooked ioctl CDROM.
This works perfect with kernels of the 2.2 series.
[3.] Keywords (i.e., modules, networking, kernel):
ide-scsi
[4.] Kernel version (from /proc/version):
2.3.99pre8
[5.] Output of Oops.. message (if applicable) with symbolic information
     resolved (see Documentation/oops-tracing.txt)
[6.] A small shell script or example program which triggers the
     problem (if possible)
cmd:
cdparanoia -vBd /dev/sr1 "2"
output:
Checking /dev/sr1 for cdrom...
Testing /dev/sr1 for cooked ioctl() interface
/dev/sr1 is not a cooked ioctl CDROM.
        Testing /dev/sr1 for SCSI interface
No generic SCSI device found to match CDROM device /dev/sr1
I used cdparanoia 9.7.
cdparanoia can be downloaded at
http://www.xiph.org/paranoia/
