Lockup at LILO with hpt366

I built a 2.2.14 + ide.2.2.14.20000124.patch kernel with HPT366 support.
I thought this was the right thing to do. :)

When I went to boot the new kernel, it locked up right after
"Loading linux-hpt366..."

The machine is a Micronics M54Pe (dual P133). I am using an Abit HotRod 66.
The machine has onboard IDE -- primary is CMD640, secondary is "run of the
mill" ISA (it's on the motherboard, but the kernel just detects normal
ide driver, as opposed to the special CMD640 driver). These two interfaces
get IRQ 14 and 15 under normal circumstances.

I thought that the HPT366 would get a different IRQ and be assigned ide2
and ide3. When I boot a non-hpt366 kernel, /proc/pci shows that the
HPT366 (Triones Technology) gets IRQ11 for both interfaces.

Connected to the HPT366 is a Maxtor 90845D4 (8.4G UDMA drive). I believe
this drive only supports UMDA/33 Mode 2, but I wanted to test the controller
under Linux first.

Did I do everything correct?

Is it time to jump into 2.3.xx fun?

Brendan
