Your name is not Al, is it? Then why do you try something for Al? (I admit
I did the same ;). That kernel is not for you and me, it is for Al Viro
and it won't mount root on a SCSI disk. Try 2.3.40-pre6 instead - it works
beautifully and has lots of useful new things in it...
