MTRR and 2.2 booting

I've discovered serious problem with 2.2 kernels:
When MTRR is enabled - 2 of our linux boxes won't boot. They freeze
after "... now booting kernel".

Processor type on both is set to 686 (one machine is Celeron and the
other is PII based).
