That assumes a fixed offset and contiguous block mapping. Is there not
a similar problem with loopback files? That is, /dev/hda2 block 1000
is /mnt/loop1 block 17. No guarantee of contiguous mapping there. Or
has something else already fixed the loopback ambiguity?
