With 2.2.13 I just encountered a somewhat different flavour
of an old problem: if the buffer cache contains blocks of
/dev/hdc and I do mkswap on /dev/hdc1, then the swap signature
does not become visible on /dev/hdc. A sync or
"blockdev --flushbufs /dev/hdc1" doesnt help. However, a
"blockdev --flushbufs /dev/hdc" fixes the situation.
