Kernel related StarOffice 5.1a problem

I upgraded from kernel 2.2.12 to 2.2.13 and suddenly StarOffice cannot
find a java installation anymore.

When I reboot with kernel 2.2.12 everything is fine.

Has anybody encountered the same problem -- and (maybe) found a
solution?
